1. Use a secret email address

Accounts are usually hacked by someone attacking a email address used for a Facebook account and sending Facebook password recovery emails to the hacked email then they have access to your Facebook without you having access to use your Facebook or Email. Use a email address no one knows about that you will never use such as for me (Rhys Towey): rhystowey.facebook395@hotmail.com or if your a bit more technical like me: fb392821@alpine.rhystowey.com. Please don’t waste your time trying to hack my Facebook as those emails are fake and used for example purposes only. Make sure you set privacy settings for “show email address” as “Only Me” so only you can see it. Privacy settings can be found at Account (top right corner) > Privacy Settings.

2. Use a strong password

People can sometimes guess your password depending how much you say things similar to it or if you accidentally mistype it somewhere insecure (other than facebook.com). You should use a password that you will NEVER mention related things to it such as a football player for a football team. That is a example of what NOT to set a password to. Choose something very personal and hard to remember for others to memorise. If you have any suspicion that someone knows your password, CHANGE IT!

3. Trust no one but yourself

Yes this may seem a little harsh but telling anyone your account information can lead to account information being spread in a way that they make a mistake of mistyping it somewhere other than facebook.com. Its best to avoid telling anyone your account information if you can help it.

4. Know your friends

Don’t go accepting any random people you’ve never spoken to before. You never know who you could be adding. Hackers usually add their ‘victims’ on a fake account to gain any useful information before hacking you.

5. Be careful where you log on

Hackers may try to trick the vulnerable people by creating a clone of the Facebook login page that sends the hacker your account information once you press “login”. Always make sure your connected to www.facebook.com when typing in this information. If you discover a cloned Facebook site, do the people of the Internet a favour and report it so others don’t get caught up in this.

Follow these tips and you will be hack free! You can trust me, I’m a geek who cares.

Wow, three years already? Time goes fast..

Three years ago today on 10th Feb 2008 it was I who created Towey Software. Since then we have achieved a lot from meeting tens of thousands of new people to creating new and improved Software. Everyday we learn something new and have recently learnt that were not that good with planning things! (Such as the releases of Speedster and WebSurfer 3)

I personally feel proud of what we have achieved and believe that we can achieve anything we aim to do. With the brilliant team members that we have, this should be possible. We have also managed to double our population within the last year.

As Founder and head of Towey Software I would like to give a HUGE thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout the years such as Facebook, YouTube and Twitter for the Social Networking to communicate with our users, Microsoft for their developing tools and most importantly YOU the user of our Software.

So lets hope for another great year!

For those who care or wonder whether to get the Kinect for there Xbox, below is my thoughts and suggestions.

When I first got Kinect as a present for Christmas (2010) I first seemed a little unsure of the device as from knowing about previous versions of devices like Kinect such as the Eye Toy for Play Station 2 which was terrible. From seeing Kinect on TV and on the Internet it seemed almost unrealistic for the way it measures so accurately. I also questioned myself to if it will work with the old Xbox 360 as well as the new one. Microsoft said “Yes, it works with the old Xbox 360 but requires your Xbox to have over 175MB of Memory(RAM)”.

Anyway, after plugging in my new Xbox Kinect I found how simple it was to get started with the new device just by turning on the console and downloading the latest update then my new Kinect was ready to go. I have three games for Kinect which are Kinect Sports, Kinect Adventures (which comes with the Kinect) and Dance Central. Xbox Kinect automatically adjusts itself by tilting the device up and down with its built in electric motor. Kinect also has a built in microphone for voice recognition and commands such as on the dashboard for saying things like “Xbox.. Play disk”. As I played the games I noticed how accurate it was with detecting your body movement. Your avatar on the screen moves exactly as you do from the slightest hand or feet movement which makes the Kinect games more realistic.

Okay so what do I think overall?

Fantastic! Microsoft really done a good job on this, I would most certainly recommend this to anyone. It costs around £130+ but is worth every penny! There are on the other hand two problems with this; You need to plug it into an outlet (separate plug) and you require some space to play. I recommend around 3 meters of space to play.

Friends calling up an Adult channel and told me to switch to the channel. What a way to advertise? hahaha.

Doing this installs Cydia to your home screen for you to then continue further.

The part I have a problem with is trying to display the result of distance. I have the following code:

I have no idea how to display the result on a label on a table view showing closest to furthest distances..

Here is my beef with a Blackberry:

1. The screen isn’t large enough – I like to occasionally watch movies on my iPhone or browse YouTube for some short videos when I’m on the Train and with a small screen like on the Blackberry it is harder to see the screen.

2. Lack of touch screen – I have taken a strong liking to touch screen devices over the years because of the potential of them. I know there’s Blackberry Storm which is touch screen but it doesn’t compare to the iPhone version.

3. The Applications (most important reason!) – Well on iPhone there’s around 200,000+ amazing apps where as Blackberry has around 2000+. iPhone have a much better App Store than Blackberry to quickly download multiple of your favourite apps or even new ones at once.

4. Small Keyboard - The Keyboard on Blackberry has very small buttons where as iPhone has a large on-screen Keyboard with multiple language Keyboards. You end up pressing more than one key at a time!

5.  The design - The iPhone design is known for “More screen, less buttons.” which helps keep the device looking good even after 1.5 years! The Blackberry is a more bulky device if i must say but still surprisingly weighs less than the iPhone. Software wise the iPhone is much simpler for navigating to applications and on the web where as Blackberry is more complicated.

The ONLY thing i like with Blackberry’s – The application Blackberry Messenger (BBM) is the only thing i like about the whole phone. Why you maybe asking? Well my friends use it to communicate for free.

Overall my final opinion is that Blackberry’s are Business Phones (Text, Call, Email & Web) and they should be kept that way where as iPhone, the better device is a more gaming device proven by the 50,000+ games available to download.

Sorry Blackberry, don’t expect me to buy from you soon!
